GOP Patriots Basic Information, Policies And Positions

By Daniel Collins

Republican Party is commonly known as GOP which means Grand Old Party and among the only two major political parties in United States. They were named after the dominant value amid American Revolution which is republicanism. Among their founders are former members of Whigs and Free Soilers with economic modernizers and activist against slavery.

The current ideology is American conservatism and its platform involves the support for deregulation, fiscal conservatism, free market capitalism, free enterprise, labor union restrictions, and strong national defense. Located everywhere are volunteer organizations which includes Potomac GOP Patriots that will reach to communities out to advocate, discuss and campaign conservative principles. These are district subcommittee in their place.

They seek to promote traditional values largely based in Judeo Christian ethics because of them being socially conservative. And they oppose marijuana use, abortion, same sex marriage, illegal immigration, affirmative action and gun control. They also support changing the status of Puerto Rico from being a United States territory into becoming a new Union state.

They strongly believe that the primary factors of economic prosperity are individual achievement and free markets. Elimination of government run welfare programs are advocated by them while favoring private sectors to help the poor through charity. Social assistance programs may result to state dependency and individuals should be responsible about their circumstances.

They advocate the supply side economics theory that states having lower tax rates would increase economic growth. Most Republicans are against tax rates being higher for those that earn more due to their belief that those creating wealth and job are being targeted unfairly. Rather than government spending, they believe private spending is more efficient.

They believe employment practices must be established by the corporations themselves which includes wages and benefits and the free market deciding their value. Labor unions have generally opposed them because of these laws against them. Increase in minimum wage was oppose because they think businesses are hurt by this that forces outsourcing and cutting of jobs with consumers receiving the costs.

They support strict constructionism or judicial philosophy of interpreting the Constitution as close as applicable to its original intent. Judicial restraint is favored which encourages limits to judges when exercising their powers and upholds precedent established by past judges. They believe federalism though federal authorities must have limitations and states would have larger roles.

Historically, their leaders support environmental regulations and policies for its protection were signed before. Their position though has since been changed then from combating climate change as their previous goal to becoming non believers of its existence. Limitations against emissions of carbon and the greenhouse gas are rejected which draws criticism from activists. Although other members which have higher positions have different beliefs regarding climate change that is unusual with them.

Ways of dealing illegal immigration is different among the Republicans with establishment types supporting path to citizenship for migrant workers. Populists though are supporting to secure the border and deport illegal immigrants. Their thinking on international relations and defense is heavily influenced by theories characterizing nations having conflicts against others as faceless forces instead of resulting from actions and ideas of leaders.
