Choosing Music Promoter As Your Career

By Kevin Cox

What kind of music do you like? Do you prefer listening to classical piece from Beethoven to Chopin? Do you also head bang with the songs of Nirvana and Greenday? Or perhaps you like reminiscing and feel so in love and heartbroken at the same with the song of Taylor Swift. Everyone has different preference when it comes to music and with their preference, they grow to love it even more. For that reason, they want to employ to that industry and if eve you also want too, then you can try that path by being a concert promoter.

Once individuals find some bands that are so addicting, they cannot stop themselves on becoming their fans. And for sure before they sleep at night, others would tend to daydream and imagine themselves working alongside their favorite rock stars like Avril Lavigne, Hayley Williams or perhaps Billie Joe Armstrong. Seeing their live performances is already a blessing to their eyes and ears. But have you wondered as well on how their shows were made?

Perhaps you thought those agents did those jobs. Or perhaps the musicians are making the efforts and bossing everyone around. But no. Mostly, all those tasks come from music promoters. From the name itself, those people do the task of promoting, negotiating, booking and several others.

In other words, they are the one who made those concerts in public so that fans and non-fans will attend. With that, a collaboration and cooperation from the agents, bands and venues for concerts are needed so it would be successful. Otherwise they would be blamed if it all goes wrong. This career might be what you were looking for and you might get the chance to work with those artists you idolized.

To begin that career, you have to choices to select. The first choice is working on the promotion companies. There are many companies out there that are established and they can allow you also to collaborate with those famous musicians.

Of course you will also start with the basic tasks like giving posters or flyers. As you keep on working and improving you might become the lead promoter. Doing this will give you some opportunities to work with famous artists or perhaps you might meet some artists you dislike. Though it may take longer to reach the lead role but at least you are set to get on it.

The other path is going to Indie Promoting. This one is very simple as all you need is finding some local band who wants to make a name, negotiating with them and then booking their first show. You are the boss in that profession. However, you also have lots of responsibilities.

Despite the freedom you get, it comes with many responsibilities too. Unlike being affiliated with established companies, your money will be put into risks if ever you made some wrong decisions. And if the band you had been promoting turns into a flop, your investment will surely be lost. Be sure to have some knowledge about marketing and business and also good social skills to survive on this.

Those who are so passionate with music may love this. Companies or Indie, strategies are needed. Nonetheless, their love of music will surely remain.
