The Various Venues of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

Known in their region as only the Kennedy Center, it was later transformed during 1971 into the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. located near the river of Potamac, this center is known as one of the most elegant performing arts center in the world.

Representing a distinctive private and public partnership of John Kennedy the president and of the National Center for the Performing Arts, this performing arts center was drafted by Edward Durrel Stone, an architect. John McShain, a Philadelphia supplier built it. Further, it was being administered by Smithsonian Institution bureau. Annually, the Kennedy center for the performing arts receives a Federal funding to pay for its maintenance and building operation.

The Concert Hall - set to house up to 2, 442 people, it is seen at the south section of the center. Originally after its opening, the hall had a seating arrangement which was identical to those of the European halls such as the Vienna's Musikverein hall. During 1997, it was rebuilt to display both present and futuristic acoustical casing, the latest seating parts which showcase chorister and parterre seats as well as onstage boxes with great and easy locations on each surface.

Opera House - Situated at the core of the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, this part of the building can house 2, 300 individuals. The inner design of the place boast a red velvet and an exclusive gold and red silk curtain which was given by Japan. It also boasts a Lobmeyr crystal-made chandelier that is a gift from Austria.

Comparing all the sections of the Kennedy Center, the Opera House is the primary ballet and opera musical setting. In the year 2003-2004, the section was renovated to enhance the seating plans and the design features of the entrances. In addition, the Opera House is considered to be the home of the Washington National Opera as well as the Kennedy Center Honors.

Eisenhower Tower - seen at the northern section of the center, the Eisenhower Tower can accommodate up to 1, 100 people. It mainly concentrates on hosting plays and musicals as well as ballet and contemporary dances. The theater also associates a group pit which is a place that can accommodate up to 40 musicians. Upon choice, it can be converted into a forestage seating plan to accommodate more people. The setting has been undergoing renovation since May 2007 and is set to reopen again in the year 2008.

Among these venues that Kennedy Center for Performing Arts consists of, there are also other venues such as the Family Theater which can seat 324 people, the Theater Lab which can accommodate 399 people and the Terrace theater which can accommodate 513 people.

The center frequently holds performances for the state such as the American College Theater Festival and the Washington Ballet.
