Historical Moments Told In Monuments Men Book

By Sonya Riley

The Monuments Men Book is one great story that talks about the history and some untold events during the WWII. In fact, this is written by Robert M. Edsel out of interest in knowing how the cultural artifacts and art pieces were preserved to this time. By his thorough research, he learned about the heroic acts of certain individuals which are depicted in detail in his book.

As the published work of Edsel have grown interest among readers, a movie version for this is intended to be released later in December. The film is starred by veteran and winning actors like Matt Damon, John Goodman and Bill Murray. The other good part about this film is that the director is George Clooney.

This book is actually based from the stories of real men and women that made up the Monuments, Fine Arts and Architecture. During the second world war, they serve the organization and were on a great mission to save the art and culture of Europe. Coming from all walks of life, they are made with historians, curators and artists who commit in realizing this vision.

The book of Edsel really becomes an eye opener for the public since the characters and the setting of the story is similar from the truth. After reading this, people could have more knowledge on the incidents that have happened during the war. Moreover, they get to learn the importance of protecting and preserving culture and art pieces.

These men hold an important mission on saving and preserving culture in whatever little they can from the hands of the rulers. Along the way, the MFAA then discovered more than five million of these art pieces stolen by Hitler. This event had definitely left a huge mark as this was considered the greatest treasure hunts in history.

In totality, the war mostly brought drastic effects not just to any structures but also to the lives of the people. It seems that their hopes and dreams have been shattered to ruins that it is difficult to get back on track. Every person may have its own version to tell but the impending boulevard of broken souls could have been much worse.

It is very fascinating to know that there are actually a group of men and women who have joined forces to protect our history. They could have just live in fear and hid underground but they just chose to do the opposite. Today, we are very thankful for their efforts as we get to enjoy the ancient works of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo.

What is even more amazing is that the Monuments Men Foundation was formulated in honor of their service to art preservation. More importantly, this organization is in honor of those brave souls who fought hard to won over such historical artifacts. The mission did not actually end as more treasures are still left to be discovered.

Indeed, Robert Edsel made an effective story to tell the historical moments in the Monuments Men book. Even until this day, more cultural artifacts are left to be found and discovered as they could be buried or lost forever due the destruction from the war. And in this, a new mission arises to continue the quest for the next treasure hunt.
