How To Buy A Quartz Wrist Watch

By Linda Ruiz

Wrist watches refer to timepieces worn around the wrist for various purposes. The piece contains two bands which are used to tie it around the hand. All working mechanisms are normally enclosed inside a casing made from various materials such as metal, plastic, or alloys among others. Quartz wrist watch comes with a wide variety of features that allow it to serve more than just availing time.

Wrist watches can be used for other reasons apart from showing time. For example, they serve as fashion items in some events. It is also an international practice for antique pocket and wrist watches to be appreciated as collectible works of art or jewelry. For this reasons both expensive and inexpensive international markets have been created for the products. Men watches to match casual, semi-casual, and formal attire come with plain designs and thin golden cases.

There are a few factors to be considered when buying a timepiece. The factors include price, style, brand, life expectancy, maintenance, water resistance, bracelet, place of purchase, and size. Advertisements from manufacturers, number of jewels within the device, and internal working mechanisms should not be given much weight when buying items costing less than 10, 000 US Dollars.

Prices range from low, to very high. Low cost items cost 200 US Dollars and below while moderately priced ones cost between 300 and 700 US Dollars. High-end timepieces cost over 1000 US Dollars. Expensive models are mechanical and are normally made from precious metals like gold and platinum and the tungsten in them is specially developed. Moderately-priced models are automatic quartz watches made from carbon fiber, titanium, leather, stainless steel, and caoutchouc. Normally they are casual watches.

Watches can also be grouped by style. Major styles are sports, designer, and dress or classic. Classic have plain and simple designs and the cases are thin. Markings are bold while cases and bands are made from gold. Designer models are uniquely designed by international watch designers. Their appearance is often unusual and unique although not always. Sports models incorporate prominent markings in their bezels are water resistant and big in size.

The place a watch is purchased is also very important. Most prestigious brands cannot be purchased from any other place if not from the authorized dealers. Internet sources should not be considered when buying high-end brands. The internet should only serve as a source of information on the kind of item needed but the purchases should all be from approved dealers. Online stores and retail sites are sources to avoid.

Some models have infinite life expectancy especially the mechanical types. However, most quartz watches are limited in life by their parts. Parts in these brands may wear out over time and require to be replaced. Lack of replacement parts can be a major problem hence one should make this choice wisely at the time of making the purchase.

How well the device fits on the arm should also be considered. It must also be reasonable in terms of the size of the face. The choice of the face size should be based on the body size of the wearer to avoid appearing funny when wearing the device.
