Art Colleges In California & Understanding Monochromatic Schemes

By Katie Arden

When learning from the best art colleges in California, it's clear that some aspects will stand out to you more than others. Amongst the top three that will spring to mind first, I have to believe that color stands firmly. One of the variations that came to my attention recently was monochromatic schemes, which is a point that very few people seem to know the details about. However, this particular scheme is very useful, if you would like to know the specifics of it.

As you can probably imagine, art colleges in California can tell you that color is effective when it comes to bringing about certain feelings in pictures. Let's say that you were to create a landscape with a sunset in the background; wouldn't something like this require more relaxing, softer hues? By comparison, a portrait that has far too many extreme colors may lead one to become overwhelmed in terms of the visual sense. The ability to select colors - in order to make pieces of art stand out more so - has to be understood.

One of the reasons why many designers tend to go with this color scheme is because of how unlikely it is for colors to clash. After all, only one real color is put to use in order to make the overall design stand out that much more. What's added, though, is a shade lighter or darker, which doesn't exactly clash with the look at all. What this means is that if you have been looking for the best color scheme possible and have been struggling on the matter, this might be the ticket for you.

When it comes to colors in the way of web design, it is very easy for the attention of a visitor to be taken by something it should not. In addition, it may be difficult for them to read the text, if it seems like the colors are compiled in an incomprehensible mishmash of sorts. As a result, adding fewer colors means that visitors will be more drawn to the actual content of the website, whether it is a matter of news, contact information, or what have you. Monochromatic might be the way to go in this regard.

Sometimes photographers have to make use of certain tricks if they want their pictures to stand out in the long term. I have no doubt that this is the case for those who opt for black-and-white appearances in their photographs. Maybe it's not so much an idea of playing tricks, though; perhaps they simply want to incorporate different style. Whatever the case may be, there are benefits to take into account as far as this method is concerned and it is difficult for them to be overlooked.
