What You Need To Know When Buying A White Faux Fur Rug

By Carl Cox

If you are designing a living space in your home, there are many routes that you can go. Some individuals want a formal space while others want to create warm and inviting space that they can relax in. If this is the case with you, the right white faux fur rug can really help you achieve the look and feel you are trying to develop.

You do need to think about how large the room will be where the rug is placed. The last thing you want to do is to buy one that is far too large and which does not fit. Too small is also not ideal. You may find that if the rug is too small and it is placed under furniture that either you will not see it or you will not be able to have enough room to walk on it.

The second thing to consider is how long you want the fibers to be on the rug. Faux fur can come in a variety of thicknesses. Very thick carpets can feel wonderful underfoot but may be more difficult to take care of. Remember that you will often need to vacuum them to remove accumulated dirt and if the rug is white you will also need to clean it to remove visibly discolored areas.

Are you someone who likes a subtle pattern in your floor covering? It is still possible to find white faux fur that has a pattern to it but it may be a bit of a search. Color variations can also give a piece more of a natural look as well since it may more closely mimic an actual animal's hide.

You might also want to consider whether you want your rug to have even edges or ones that are a more free form shape. Most natural hides will have curving edges that follow the shape of the animal that they came from. If you want your rugs to look as natural as possible, this may mean that the edges feature protrusions and bulges that would mimic where legs or a tail would have been positioned on an animal.

Getting the rug is only the first step. Then you need to start designing the room around it. You may want to think about where you want to place it and whether you want it under furniture or if you want it out in the open so that it is more visible. If you have other rugs that will also occupy the same space, you should think about how closely you want them to sit.

There are many places that sell these types of rugs. Some carpeting and flooring stores may have options to choose from. If you do not find anything there that you like you may want to check online. Many websites also sell these items and will usually model them used in a living space so that you can see what they will look like when furniture and other decorative items are also present.

Following care instructions is also important. There may be specific products that you should be using to clean and maintain your area rug. Often, putting a pad underneath can help prevent slippage and also help prolong the life of your carpet. Then you can be confident that your investment will stay looking as new as possible for as long as possible.
