Concepts In CNC Machine Video Training

By Brian Butler

Machines that executes control commands that are programmed beforehand are called Computer Numerical control machines. Transforming stock materials like blocks of metal, plastic or wood into a finished product is its use. Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing are used in making digital designs interpreted into instructions used in cutting parts.

You may be interested in learning the process in operating them for various reasons. This could be a career you have been wanting to pursue or a business idea that you want to realize. Whatever it may be, watching a CNC machine video training would be very helpful in familiarizing the various steps and ideas that will be mentioned here.

The basic overview of the process of creating something using the CNC machine starts with making the design first. This can be achieved with the use of a CAD software in your personal computer. This will then be translated by the CAM software into directives that will then be converted into specific commands or codes for CNC machines.

The program codes would be then tested by the operator in making sure that problems will not happen. This essential part in the process is also called as cutting air. If any mistakes or problems will arise about the speed and tool positions, having scrapped parts or damaging the machine is a possibility that could happen.

CNC machines have generally two categories. These categories are called conventional and novel technologies. Conventional uses tools which are physical in nature such as drills, milling machines and lathes. In drills, the drill bit is rotated and moved into contact against the stationary stock material. In lathes, the drill bit is not rotated but the material instead which will then be cut when they both make contact with each other.

Novel technologies on the other hand uses specialized techniques in cutting. Techniques include electronic beam machining, laser cutting, plasma cutting and water jet cutting machines. These are used in special cases that involves a special type of material. These technologies are more commonly used in mass manufacturing materials made from durable metals while conventional are usually used in making prototypes.

A number of materials can also be used such as plastics, fiberglass, woods, copper, and steel including other kinds of metal. The materials used will be dependent on the thing you will be creating and the use you have in mind for it. These numerous options for materials gives it the advantage against 3D printing that has a very limited available types of material in the market right now.

Objects and its parts were machined by hands before which may result in it having bigger margins of error. By using CNC, the margin of error is very small and the task can be repeated as many times as you wan to. It is easier also to produce shapes that are complicated. Companies which need to produce multiple copies of their products and its parts use this due to the process being repeatable and the precision maintained across all of them.

These are just the basic overview of the process involved in CNC machining. If you want to learn more, you should check out some videos for you to exactly see how these things work. A background in mathematics, mechanical drafting and industrial arts is useful to have.
