Joining these competitions allow you to experience various type of emotions, aside from physical exhaustion, that a person may feel. Examples of these feelings are happiness when competing, disappointment when committing mistakes, nervousness during the event and sadness or joy with the results.

Remember to keep your chill, take your time and think straight when preparing before you dance. Check if all things are ready which includes every piece of the costume you have to wear and the accessories needed. Doing this helps you relax knowing you did not forget anything important for the contest which prevents experiencing additional stress specially when something has been forgotten.

Determine the way your time is spent before your chance to dance because each dancer has a variety of ways in handling nervousness. Some may silently and calmly meditate for mind relaxation to keep their thoughts positive by pushing negative ones away. Others are getting themselves excited and review their routine repeatedly or others casually talk with others.

Find out what ways your teammates have in handling jitters specially those that does not do the same things you do. If you like to get yourself excited then stay away from others who like to meditate and relax. Do not forget to have your team perform some warm up exercises to make your body prepared for dancing on the stage.

Walk confidently towards your assigned position in the stage and respectfully acknowledge the judges in front of you. Take deep breaths which helps you calm and relax yourself and have the oxygen you need which is very vital. Remember that the judges want to get entertained also even though their job is in scoring your routine.

When the performance starts, keep your mind in the routine and avoid rushing the steps. Do not get distracted because it can cause mistakes to happen so focus on your choreography. Use all your body parts in executing a routine and that includes your face and transfer your energy and love of dancing to them.

Keep smiling when you leave the stage whether the dance was great or not. Congratulate yourself and teammates because you have performed what you practice for a long time and be grateful in the opportunity to compete. You must accept the results no matter what they are and begin preparing for your next competition.
