By Ryan West

Portraits are easy to be painted by using acrylics. Many portraits being sold in many auctions and art museums and collectors are being made acrylic paints. To create a portrait by using acrylic paints, individuals will have to adhere the right procedures and use the correct materials and tools to make an art. When it concerns with acrylic portrait paintings, individuals will have to determine first what kind of equipment to use before starting to paint.

Squeeze a small amount of paint on the palette. Even a small pint of dyes can go for a long mile. Squeeze about four to six different kinds of colors that you are planning to work on with. Make a small space on the perimeters of the palette. This will give some time to combine and mix or even test the new colors and combinations at the center of palettes.

Add more water on the palette every ten to fifteen minutes while painting. Acrylic paints dry easily and quickly which makes it very hard to work with. Keep an eye on the dyes and ensure that you will spray a few amounts of water so it will not dry out and just harden on the canvasses. Once it dries, it will be impossible to remove the paints.

Purchase the most basic among colors such as yellow ochre, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue and titanium white. Using these colors have provide more combination on the hues. The more you spend time in painting, you will know what kind of colors will be added to the collection. Even though there is no difference between jars or tubes, most people that is still starting with painting prefer tubes.

Start the painting from the background. When painting, painters will be layering upwards. The easiest way is to move back to front. Make sure to begin with medium colors, next will be followed by darkest colors then the final would be the brightest ones for easy application.

Create a sketch. If you are a green horn in painting, then making a rough sketch is essential. It will be better to sketch a few outlines where the paint brush can adhere. To make the rough sketches, use a pencil that have an eraser to outline the shapes directly on the canvasses. Do not think about the shading or too much details. Try to create multiple sketches first on papers before turning it on the canvass.

Paint in the subject. When starting for the subject, break it all up in identifiable paint and shapes in solid hues. As the build up of color and shapes takes place, the subject will start to visualize. Some people try to construct an imaginary grid and focus on one grid space at a time before doing the next one. Try to find your own way on how to create the subject or follow others advice or recommendations.

Researching will make you learn the different concepts and other factors. With many factors that needs to be considered, it would be wise to understand it all first. Painting may be easy but it requires many tools and materials to achieve a subject.

Price will always be an issue. Some brands are high costs while others a low costs. Individuals must determine their differences and know each of their advantages before purchasing. Some people say that the higher the price, the better quality a paint will have.
