Car Subwoofers For Better Sound

By Jessie Gibbs

Typical vehicle audio systems have small loudspeakers with limited capability to reproduce low-frequency sounds. Cheap subwoofers can also add more depth to some vehicle sound system by recreating wavelengths below 150 hertz. A subwoofer can also add strong and effective basses for your vehicle audio for more excitement.

Almost all car stereo subs are placed in the trunk because of room constraints in the cabin of the vehicle. Subwoofers are often ten inches or twelve inches across though they could be as large as thirty four inches and as tiny as four inches.

Larger bass speakers enable more potent air displacement that is crucial for lower wavelengths.

The amp for car stereo subs could be built into the vehicle or installed in a box. The amplifier needs to have a digital crossover to remove high-frequency tunes prior to the signal passing to the bass speaker.

Although car audio subwoofers are usually round in shape, recently manufactures have been introducing subwoofers in new shapes. These innovative designs may be easier to install in cars with limited space, but there is no acoustical advantage to nonround shapes.

You will find many pre-made enclosures for vehicle audio subs available on the market. Alternatively, you could have one custom-made or build one yourself. Whenever you purchase a subwoofer driver, you can expect to get a spec sheet which provides you recommendations for enclosure needs. Also browse the spec sheets for energy needs and linear response - a set response can give the strict seem.

Moreover, make certain to not overpower or under power a bass speaker. When it's scored for three hundred watts RMS, provide it with two hundred to three hundred watts of ongoing power. As close to it's RMS ranking as achievable is ideal.
