The Life History Of Matt Dodge

Born on 30th may 1987, Matt Dodge is a football punter in America. He was first discovered while playing for his high school in the junior season. He then enrolled as a freshman at Appalachian State University in the year 2005. Here, he played 12 games then later joined East Carolina University.

At the ECU, he joined the school team called the pirates. Here, he was able make a total of eighty punts the whole season. This saw him become the second pirate in history of the school to punt such a record. For the next two years till 2009, he was rated among the top players.

He received a lot of honors while still at the ECU. In the year 2008, he had an average of 43.9 yards per punt and was ranked 14 nation wide. The player is also a recipient of Blackbeard reward.

The year 2009 he was included in the preseason reward favorites by the college sports performance awards. The Phil Steele Magazine picked him for the first team preseason at the all conference USA. The same year then saw him become an respected mention member of the Consensus Draft Service.

The year 2010 saw Dodge drafted by New York Giants. This was at the seventh round of national football league 2010. The Giants punter had just retired and he was in to replace him. He sealed a contract of four years with the team on 23rd June that year. In the December 19th game, he made a 36 yard punt but was returned for a touch down by DeSean Jackson just as the time was winding up. This gave the Philadelphia eagles a win.

This led to Matt Dodge being criticized a lot for his poor performance. The year 2011 September 3rd saw him released by the Giants who were now signing a new player for the punter position. Failing to win he lost his job and is at the moment a free agent.
