Environmental portraits, however, focus more on the relation of the subject with the surroundings, rather than facial expressions. Like a chef in the kitchen, or a sculptor in his or her studio, it puts the person in his or her natural surroundings. It does not only emphasize the personality of the person, it also complements the character.
