By Kenya Campos

He is an artist who grew up in Michigan at Birmingham . His passion and talent for painting was seen while he was still young. Immediately he had completed almost 30 canvases, his painting was exhibited at a city hall in Michigan by then he was in his seventh grade. But like usual children can be cruel, Alexander Koleszar was taunted because of his creativity which made him begin to mask his talent in painting. He hoped that it would help him avoid more negative attention.

Twenty years later, a great tragedy occurred. An AIDS pandemic swept the land and killed a great number of people he held dearly. He went through a very disheartening moment. To overcome the difficult times he had gone through, he decided to ground himself again in art. This turned out to be a successful recovery mechanism.

When he returned back to his arts works, he majored on paintings that reflected the AIDS pandemic that had taken away the lives of his dear ones. His arts attracted a museum and sales gallery in Los Angeles. They bought one of the paintings which they entitled returning home. The painting was among the best two paintings that were picked that year for exhibition.

Although Alex seemed to flourish in his work, he shifted to doing classical paintings and drawing. He needed to set more time in order to gain experience in this new field. To achieve this he enrolled for classical painting classes and put aside his past art work to give more time to his new career.

He concentrated in his work and wanted to build himself before he can start participating in exhibitions. In 1996 Alex was invited in county Museum to show his works. During the exhibition period he become more popular for his talent such that people tagged him the new emerging artist. With time he was invited for an exhibition in a Biennale.

Biennale acted as a stepping stone for great opportunities. After the show it was all over that a new talented artist had emerged. People traveled from every part of Europe and US to buy his paintings. They were a real fusion of realism and surrealism.

Every work Koleszar had done showed clearly that he was passionate and committed to his work. He used paintings to expose issues in the community. Some of the drawings he had made reflected wars in the society. From a glance of any of his paintings one could learn a lesson. They all reflected real issues in the community such as addiction in Hollywood community.

Koleszar is a celebrated renaissance man. In addition to art he did natural sciences and enjoyed politics. His thoughts, knowledge and ideas were reflected in art. It was during this time that another tragedy hit him. One of his close friends who he had worked with in this field for 26 years passed away. It was very painful that he migrated to Palms Springs. There he started a new life away from past distractions.
