Aside from that, these breeds are also affectionate, intelligent, easy to train, and loving. Dogs are amazing pets because of they are fun, playful, and compassionate. Cavaliers are usually called as sporting breed toys because of the combination of toy and spaniel traits. Although they are sweet tempered and love cuddling, but they have more athletic instincts than you might expect. Indeed, they can be a good chaser and runner. A gated yard is important because Cavaliers will surely pursue chipmunks and even butterflies.

Like any other breeds, Cavaliers need an amount of exercise every day. And remember, these breeds are people oriented. They often get stressed when left alone for so long and should have good companionship either other pets or humans on a day to day basis. If left alone, they always bark and even chew or whine destructively.

Fortunately, they can go along with animals and even polite to humans. However like other dogs, they also lack courage. Therefore, as early as they can, you need a lot of socialization activities for them to build confidence and outgoing dispositions. When you love those traits, then a spaniel puppy is right for you.

But if you do not want to deal with lots of shedding, separation anxiety, shyness and timidity and even healthy problems, then this may not right for you. Actually, you can avoid some negative traits of dogs by choosing a good breeder and the right puppy. Once you acquire a puppy from animal shelters, make sure to pick an adult dog who has already proven that he does not have negative features.

It is also important to give him a proper training so he would respect you. One of the biggest problems with spaniels today is health. The three common health problems include valve degeneration which eventually leads to heart failure, skin allergies, ear infections, all of which are eligible for insurance benefits.
