Getting ready for a competition can be difficult, especially when the stakes are high. However, you can increase your chances of succeeding by making some preparations. The following are the things that you need to do when preparing for open horse shows and events.

Groom your horse daily. If you really want the animal to be ready for a show, it is important to keep it groomed always. There are several benefits that you can withdraw from grooming the animal regularly. These include increased emotional bonding, improved health and enhance coat shine. Basically, a clean animal will look healthy and happy always. Cleaning them involves working out dirt off their coat, picking their hooves etc.

Feed your animal on the right types of food to enhance the shine of their coat. There are many kinds of feeds that you can buy from the local stores for this purpose. Apart from improving shine, such foods also increase the thickness of the coat. Before buying anything for your pony, be sure to read the ingredients to confirm that it is safe enough to use.

Be sure to offer your mount the best medical care. You do not want them to appear underweight or overweight for the event. Still, an animal that looks ill or has worms will not earn you the points you desire. It is therefore advisable to take the health of your horse seriously by following up on its medication. Working with a qualified veterinarian is highly recommended.

There are certain preparations that you only need to make a few days to the show. First, it is important that you bathe the horse so that it is clean enough and prepared. Ideally, the cleaning should be done a night to the function. This is because if you bathe them too early, they will become dirt again. There are various types of high quality cleaning products that you should have for such an activity.

It is also important to pack the right items for the event. Due to the stressful nature of such functions, keeping up with the feeding schedule of the pony is important. For this reason, ensure that you pack all their feeds and enough drinking water. The food that you carry should be exactly what you feed them during other days. Still, it is recommended that you do not change their feeding time.

Prepare the require equipment. Most event organizers will expect you to carry certain things for the stall. These include bedding for your animal, buckets, chains and hooks among other things. It is therefore critical to find out in advance what you need to pack so that you do not miss anything important. In addition, you should find out the equipment that will be availed for communal use.

A few hours to the event, there are certain things that you should do. They include doing some final grooming, getting dressed appropriately and taking time to just relax. To enhance your performance, be passionate about what you do and encourage yourself. Comparing yourself to other before any competition will only be counterproductive.
