By Margaret Morgan

As the holiday season approaches, you might be thinking about planning a fun and exciting experience for the community children. A Dallas Santa for hire is a great way to give young children memories of a lifetime. You can hire Santa to take photos with the children, pass out gifts, or just to make the occasion a "jolly" good time. Check out these other ideas for making your holiday event a big hit.

Decide on a location for the event. Depending upon the size of the community, you might want to have the event at a clubhouse or someone's home. You can also look to use a location in the area with the permission of the building owners. Reserving the location for the event is the first thing to do on the planning list.

Start looking for a service to hire your Santa. During the holidays, it is possible Santa just might be booked up with appearances. Know exactly which service you plan to go with and mark it on your appointment calendar, so you will book the date in advance. A Christmas party is no fun without a Santa for the children.

Find a location to host the event. It is important to select a location which is convenient for guests and one that allows children. You might want to consider looking for small buildings in the neighborhood that will allow you to use the space for a couple of hours. Some owners will do this free of charge for a good cause, as long as you promise to clean up behind yourself.

Ask about having your event catered. Unless you really have a significant amount of time on your hands, you probably will want to have some assistance with the food. There are many great caterers for these types of events but now is the time to start looking and booking. Most caterers are become booked during the holidays for obvious reasons.

Arrange to send out party invitations. You want to include everyone in the holiday festivities. So, be sure to send out invitations well in advance to make sure everyone will be able to attend. Most people have plans of their own during the holidays and might be traveling out of town. Be sure to select a date that works for most guests.

Since most people associate Christmas with toys and presents, ask for donations. You can ask people to donate all types of items including books, toys, coats, and household items. You can wrap them and allow each person a chance to leave with a gift. Or the items can be wrapped and distributed later if you prefer to keep the gift giving a secret. Some people do not like to feel as if they are a charity case during the holidays.

Just remember the holiday season is all about giving thanks and having a great time with friends and family. You want to make sure everyone is included and having a good time. Don't forget the elderly this holiday season, they probably will love being included in community festivities as well.
