Woodstock NY Travel Guide For Something Different

By Eric Long

Woodstock will always be known for the music festival which began at a time when there were a lot of problems in the country. On a farm, just a kilometer away from the town, young people were fighting for freedom. This was time to remember. However, Woodstock NY travel guide also consists of ways in which you are able to take advantage of the beauty and the nature of this part of the world. There is a lot more to know about this area than the festival.

Many people who work in New York City like to take a drive out this way, since it is only a few hours. If you leave straight after work on Friday, you have a full weekend. There are some great places to stay. AirBnb's are available run by very friendly people. The contrast of the city and a place like this is like night and day, and this is often the big attraction.

You are surrounded by nature with many exciting trails where you can go hiking. There are some great spas where you can get away from everything and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and the office environment. It is great to be able to talk to the folk here about their lives. Not everyone here are aged hippies.

There are people who enjoy the quiet life while being fairly close to the city for the sake of convenience. They enjoy the beauty. They also enjoy something a little different. There are young people here as well who are musicians as well as artists. Not everyone walks around in tie-dye t-shirts.

However, there are certain parts of Woodstock where you will think you are back in the sixties. Here, you will find aged hippies who will be selling their goods. Certain parts are very bohemian. There are some great arts and crafts stores. You won't only find t-shirts here. You can spot some very talented artists here.

If you are looking for a couple of Bohemian spots to hang out, then this would be Tinker street. You can find many homemade products here. The original sellers usually have their own stores here. It is not commercialized. People are always friendly so it is an experience, even if you are going for a stroll.

As you meander through different parts of the town, you will still feel the vibe and the atmosphere that was once present in the sixties and the seventies. You don't find this in many other towns. It is often the people, the music and the art which bring it back to life. This is what makes it feel so alive.

There are great music festivals which are organized at different times of the year. It may be worthwhile booking some time off work to attend one of these. Most people don't go and view musicians because of the quality of the music. A lot of musicians are just passionate about what they do. They may be an old timer and they just like strumming away to the Beatles.
