Publishing Genealogy Is The Unsung Hero To Uniting The World

By Juliette Cruz

There is a thought that all of living creatures on the planet are connected in one way or another. There are scientists that have spent years confirming this through a classification system that identifies life from the kingdom down to the genus and species. The scientific proof is there. However, it has become a more tedious task trying to prove the connectivity, or ancestry of human life. There are many families that only know a small portion of their family relationships. This means knowing very little about great grandparents and older. There are a few that can trace their family back thousands of years. Publishing Genealogy is a way to build a connector that, if tied to many others, can provide that clearer picture for many.

Genealogical pursuits are much more than a hobby. In many ways it is a necessity. There are many that have religious reasons to pursue knowing their family tree. This makes the approach in those cases responsibilities, or labors of love. There are others that can benefit from these pursuits in different ways. For many African Americans, their history ends at the shores of America. Through the slave trade there was a severing of the ability to connect family lines from their origins in Africa.

There is confidence building and positive awareness in identifying ones heritage. Regardless of ancestors being in positions of authority and power or having to overcome life threatening situations, this information can assist in aspiring others whenever they go through their own difficulties.

Genealogical processing will serve to speed the elimination of racism and elitism. These antiquated and divisive sentiments have created pain and suffering among people of all races. Battles have been started because of it with innocent lives lost in the process. No matter the skin color, all human beings are related in some way.

There has been a large growth in genealogical research. Genealogical publishing can still include the standard books found in libraries. The internet now serves as the major catalyst for genealogy growth. Search engines are easily accessed. Now all it takes is entering a name, and the family connection experience begins.

Many internet sites provide unique abilities to design very detailed family trees. These can provide biographical information on every member of the family, including photos. This info can be accessed by family members no matter where they are. Now everyone immediately knows birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and other important dates. This also becomes a global family connection center, helping to keep families together at all times.

GEDCOM means Genealogical Data Communication. This is a novel language that allows information to be shared between various types of software. If the internet is the heart of genealogical growth, this language has to be the backbone.

The world will continue to become smaller due to technology and more successful due to advances in diversity. Publishing Genealogy will create common threads of interest, acceptance, and motivation needed to continue positive growth and maturity of mankind. It will seek to tear down walls of us and them. Rather, it will serve to show everyone as family.
