What To Ask Your Wedding Photographers

By Dawn Williams

Utah wedding photographers are a common fixture in receptions and ceremonies when couples are tying the knot. They are in charge of documenting the whole event. Not all will be good at what they do so you have to be selective if you want great photos. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a candidate.

Great images are not obtained by chance or luck. The artist needs not only good equipment, he will also need skill. This can happen if he has had a lot of practice. Therefore ask about how much experience he has and how many projects he has handled. Check if these projects are similar to your event.

Ask for a portfolio. A portfolio is just a compilation of the artist work. It showcases his skill and his style. Ask to see it so you can assess the artists versatility and you can see the quality of his shots. Determine if you like his style and if he consistently produces high quality images.

Choose the one who has all his bases covered. Anything can happen before or during the event. One of the cameras could break down or the artist could get sick. What is important is that the professional has a plan if any of these should occur. Ask him how he will ensure that everything will proceed as planned.

Determine what kind of packages are being offered. Some will be quite comprehensive while others may only include the basics. Clarify what is included and what is not. Determine what kind of shots will be taken and make sure that this is a level of coverage that you want. Moreover, ask how many hours he will be there to shoot.

Note how much these packages will cost. Aside from the total, you also have to be on the lookout for things that can mean additional fees. Ask what kind of rates will apply if you want him to stay longer. Determine what the extra charges are for traveling, editing, going to another venue, and so on.

You may have something very specific in mind. If this is the case, then find out if there are customization options for you. Since this is your big day, you will naturally want to record the most significant moments. Determine if he is willing to obtain the images you want to include in the album.

The question of what the output would be and when you will be getting it is something that should also be answered. You may want to get digital copies in a particular format or get a number of prints. Ask him if you get to select the shots that go into the final collection and when you will be able to view the images.

With so many Utah wedding photographers to choose from, it is important that you are thorough in your research. Do not be shy about asking questions. You need to do this if you want to determine how good he is. Moreover, clarify what is included in the offer and determine what kind of copies you will be receiving.
