Stories Of Miracles In The Bible

By Marissa Velazquez

Miracles are events that do not follow natural rules. For example, a person who is completely healed of HIV can be said to have received a miracle. Similarly, when a doctor tells a patient to prepare for death in a couple of days and the patient keeps living for years, the doctor will come to the conclusion that his patient received a miracle. There are similar situations in the Bible. Stories of miracles in the Bible are there to equip you and make you realize that there is no impossibility on earth.

One of the stories worth mentioning is the healing of the woman with an issue of blood. The woman's blood flowed continuously for twelve years until the day she met Jesus. She just said within herself that all she needed to do was to touch the hem of His garment; and that was all. Her blood flow seized as soon as she took the action.

There are several stories of people getting their sight in the Bible. One of such stories is related to Blind Bartimeus. Bartimeus was blind right from the day he came from his mother's womb. As a result of his condition, he always sat by the road side asking for gifts. One day, he got the greatest gift of His life as Jesus came around. Jesus healed his blindness and he began to see clearly, like every other person.

The man called legion (many demons) had been abandoned by his people who thought there was no way he could regain consciousness. Although his relations had given up on him, Jesus did not forget this man who was located at the riverside. He went there specifically for him, to show him his love and care. Jesus expelled the demons from him and sent them to the pigs. The demons drove the pigs to the river where they got drowned.

Another astonishing wonder was Jesus walk on water. The purpose of this miracle was not to show off but to let his disciples know they could do anything he does by simply looking unto Him. This is true because He also beckoned on Peter to do the same.

The feeding of the five thousand men with only five loaves of bread and two fishes is another stunning miracle. Before it happened, Jesus took the loaves, broke it and then gave thanks. Jesus wanted His disciples to know certain things here. First, he wanted them to understand the benefits of sharing. Next, He wanted them to understand the importance of giving thanks to God even when problems still seem to remain.

One of the greatest miracles in the Bible is the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Lazarus was sick for some time before his death. Even after his death, Jesus still delayed for four days before going to Bethany. When Jesus went, Lazarus had already been buried so he ordered that he be removed from the tomb. After praying, Lazarus came back to life and the people around became more astonished.

There are many other stories of miracles in the Old Testament. Miracles such as the departure of the Israelites through the Red Sea, God's creation with spoken words, the fall of Jericho's walls and the healing of Naaman in 2 Kings 5:14 are there in the Bible. These stories are indelible and they are meant to encourage everyone who is in dire need of supernatural help from God.
