Steps To Build Complete Wardrobe Essentials

By Young Lindsay

You've always wanted to re-create yourself and one of the first steps would be to take on a new or updated style. You can build complete wardrobe essentials with any kind of budget as long as it is enough to purchase basics plus accessories. This can be a fun and exciting way to increase your confidence and self-esteem.

Construct a complete new selection of clothing items with class and distinction by planning first. Go through the clothing items that you already own and sort them. Get rid of anything you haven't worn in a year unless it is formal wear.

Choose one to three basic colors that your selections will be based on. For extra mileage, black is always a good color to begin with as almost everything matches this shade. Choose one or two colors to go with your base shade. For example, with black, red and white are always good choices as they are strong colors that can be worn year round. Adding accessories to these will be a snap, especially around the holidays.

Choose the categories you will need. This will depend greatly on your lifestyle but will usually include casual, work, and dressy types of clothing. Those who socialize often will need a formal category and those who work out or run will definitely need a sports section of clothing articles. Some articles will be able to be included in more than one category. For example, a nice pair of slacks can be worn both to work and out on the town.

If you are very athletic or sports oriented, this is a category you may wish to add. You will need shorts, leggings, shoes, yoga pant, running and exercise bras, and much, much more. Begin very slowly with the mere basics as you progress in your fitness program and add more attire and footwear as needed.

Black and brown are the best basic colors for boots. They are extremely versatile shades and can work great with everything from leggings to dresses. Keep a variety of boots on hand to keep your options open. The best quality footwear is usually made of leather and needs to be taken care of on a regular basis. Shoes polishes and shines should be kept available at all times to assist with scuffs and discolorations.

The shoes that are available are without limit. You will need many types including clogs, flats, work shoes, running shoes, loafers and heels. Select what fits your lifestyle and your bank account and spend most of your money on those styles you will wear most frequently. If you love to party, heels and dressy sandals are necessary. If work is what takes up most of your time, then professional wear is what is needed the most.

Do not buy formal wear on a whim. Purchase it only on an as-needed basis unless glamorous parties and social events are a large part of your life. These luxuries should be the last on your list and if you don't really socialize or attend these types of events, you probably don't need any at all unless a wedding invitation arrives in the mail or you are invited to a charity ball.

After your purchases have been completed, make a point of organizing your closet and drawer space to keep everything neat and easy to locate. Enlist the aid of professionals if necessary. Enjoy the new look that you have acquired and continue to change and update it as needed.
