Bacteria can build up in the mouthpiece. Hence, this is the part that needs your constant attention. You have to sterilize it each time you are planning to play. You cannot sterilize the whole instrument, just the piece. But you can wipe the other parts with cloth and disinfectants.

Regularly clean your instrument especially the mouthpiece. It could be really dirty. You have to gather first all the needed materials like alcohol, cloth, mouthpiece disinfectant, soap, and one cup of hot water which is use for the sterilization part. Be warned about the hot surface of the cup and the hot water itself. If it will spill, you are in deep trouble.

When these materials are complete, you can proceed by pouring the disinfectant for mouthpiece to the clean cloth. Then wipe the mouthpiece thoroughly. It is now time for the sterilization proper. You also need some soap, by the way. Just a little amount of soap will go a long way. This must be mixed with the hot water. After that, the mouthpiece will be soaked for around fifteen to twenty minutes or just until the water starts to cool down.

After all those processes, get another clean piece of cloth to wipe all the remaining water, soap, and disinfectants. Also wipe the other woodwind parts. Keep it germ free before you use it. Never put your mouth into it when it has not been sterilized.
