Preparing Your Hookah Tobacco

By Max Collins

An important point to savoring a superb hookah, is preparing the tobacco correctly. We're going to cover the steps required to setup a terrific tobacco bowl.

Select a flavor that you like. If you picked a flavor you didn't like, you could save it by blending it in with another flavor. If the taste of the freshly mixed tobacco is unbearable, you can still conserve the juices from it to bring back a dried out flavor. There are several varieties of flavors on the market today; from cheap to pricey products. Additionally they come in a number of portions from 50g to 1kg. The higher priced products often taste better and smoke longer, but this is not always the case.

To prepare your tobacco, take a paper towel and place it onto your kitchen table. Then grab your tobacco from the wrapping and place it on top of the paper towel. Fold the paper towel and apply pressure. This will absorb a the juices so your tobacco will smoke for longer. Doing this also stops the juices from running down the stem and right into your water jar. Now put your shisha flavor in your bowl. The best method is to split it into small bits and placing them in your bowl.

Its a good idea to completely fill your bowl with tobacco. This creates a slight dome so that your charcoal can sit on the edge of the bowl. Doing so will extend smoke time and let you use more charcoals. Once your bowl is packed, cover the top using a piece of aluminum foil. Fasten the aluminum foil around the bowl. Use a pointy object, such as a pin to make holes on top of the aluminum foil, so that your bowl looks like a showerhead. This will enable maximal air movement when smoking.

You can store your tobacco in a container or zip lock and place it in the fridge. Doing so will assure that your flavoring remains delicious for a long period. After the charcoal is lit up, place it over the bowl so that the edge of the charcoal is on the rim. You will be able to use numerous charcoals for a single hookah bowl, using this method of charcoal placement. There a various sizes of charcoal so make sure you use the appropriate size with respect to your bowl.
