Vintage Shoes That Are Part Of Current Fashion

By Alyssa Riggs

We have all witnessed the unexpected return of retro style back into the mainstream fashion and trend industry. Vintage shoes particularly are back in the market with a boom. Some of the designs that many of us thought had been buried are bask in the market. These shoes are especially sought after due to their functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Oxfords have made a comeback on the runway that nobody expected. They were worn by college and high school students in many English public schools. Considering that the elegant, passionate English style is currently a hot seller, these shoes had to feature in the comeback, previously a preserve for gentlemen; oxfords have been remodeled to fit the feminine style. A couple of innovative designers have remodeled these pieces to fit the elegant current style.

Shoe enthusiasts know that clogs are back in business. These soles were popular in the seventies and have been adopted by rock stars as a signature emblem. Clogs have been pushed back on the runways riding on the rising popularity of rock music. They fit well with the rebellious types and are used to make a statement. They come in various shapes and sizes with heels, peep toes and boots being most prevalent.

Slippers and flats are some of the best inventions to hit the shoe market. This is due to their ease of use and comfort. Flat shoes are good for walking long distances or wearing in laid back conditions. Ballerina flats are an incoming trend that is mainly adored for comfort. Good flats are difficult to come by thus placing a high intrinsic value on them.

The value of a handmade cowboy boot cannot be understated. Previously considered a preserve of rednecks and farm laborers from Midwest America, these boots have made their mark in fashion. They are adored for their tough nature, durability and functionality. Innovative and creative designers have incorporated unique patterns and emblems to transform the previously boring boots into fashion signatures.

Heels and pumps have always been fashionable for ladies. This emanates from their elongating effect on female legs. In recent times, ladies have been going out of their way to find unique heels thus leading to the shift back to vintage fashion. Heels have the ability to change a normal dress from dab to fabulous hence explaining their immense popularity.

Summer is the season for fashion all across the Northern hemisphere. This time around, sling backs and sandals were in high demand. Their return to fashion is attributed to their coziness and ease of use. The most popular designs are fabric insoles, Asian inspired sandals, sea shell designs and oriental makes.

That history repeats itself is a fact that nobody can dispute. Vintage shoes are back in fashion and are highly valued on stages and runways. The best part about collecting and wearing vintage pairs are the memories that they evoke. To some people, they are a memory of their dancing days in discotheques, picnics or other earlier times.
