How To Find A Montreal Wedding Photographer For Your Special Day

By Lynn Beard

Planning for your big day can be a bit overwhelming. There is so much to do and so many details to attend to. One thing that you want to be sure to pay close attention to is selecting your Montreal wedding photographer. You want to be sure to choose the best person for the job. Remember, that this person will be chronicling this big day. You will want photos that can be looked at year after year and remember the joy that you feel on your special day.

One common question is whether or not it is wise to save money and have a friend or family member take the pictures. The answer is this is not a good idea. If you want to save money do so elsewhere. The photos are one area where you do not want to skimp. An amateur will provide you with pictures that look like they came from an amateur.

Meet with the person well in advance of the big day. You should discuss pricing and exactly what you get for the price you are paying. The professional should be able to show you a large sampling of his or her work. Take your time to look over the work. It is a good idea for both the bride and groom to do this, you may also want to bring along an additional family member for another opinion.

If you are unhappy with the samples that are shown, keep looking. One person's style cannot be right for everyone. Find one whose style meshes well with your own.

Taking the time to meet with more than one person is also beneficial to you. You are able to compare prices to find one that suits your budget. Speaking of your budget, you should have a clear idea as to what your budget is before you meet with anyone. Be sure to let the photography professional know what your budget is so that he or she can see what they can do for you while still remaining within your budget.

Couples also often wonder how to make sure that they get the pictures they want. This is easy. You speak to the person taking them in advance. If you want to make sure that a favorite aunt and uncle get in a picture with the bride and groom, you let the person taking your photos know this. It is up to you to see to it that this is done. After all, this is your family and friends.

Get everything in writing in your contract. Your contract is to protect both parties. Everything you discuss as far as pricing and what you are getting, should be in the contract. If something were to go wrong, the contract is your proof. If you agree on something that is not written into the contract, you will have no recourse later. The contract will take precedence over your verbal agreement.

Finally, how often to be in touch with your Montreal wedding photographer is another question that is heard often. You should stay in touch periodically in the months leading up to the wedding. In the days or week before have a more in depth conversation about what is expected, also go over the date, place, and time. This way there is no room for misunderstanding.
