The Kiss, Gustav Klimt, Man and Woman Hugging Figurine

By Chris Jeub

The dynamic bond between woman and man (c. 1907) is eloquently illustrated by the famous 20th-century artist, Gustav Klimt. His paintings are giant allegorical canvases which blend linear construction and rich colours regularly illustrating a whole world of gorgeous girls and nudes against a bejeweled background.

The ornamental facade appears to hide a pure, almost esoteric, feeling of felicity, portrayed in a classical manner, nestling in a bed of flowers. Two figures are situated at the edge of a flowered escarpment. The man is wearing neutral colored rectangles and a crown of vines; the woman wears brightly coloured tangent circles and flowers in her hair. The couple's embrace is enveloped by triangular vining and a veil of concentric circles.

As per the Jugendstil practice, these lovers appear to be detached from the world. An impression that's strengthened by the applying of shades of gold and gold leaf.

Parastone, a renowned Western european collectible figure manufacturer, has masterfully brought to life this legendary immortal painting of "The Kiss" by Art Nouveau master artist Gustav Klimt, as an intricate 3D statue modification in the finest detail, and can be seen under the Alternative Works section of this art web site which specializes in ancient artifacts replicas of famous works.

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was a prominent member of a pioneering group of artists called "Sezession" and is widely thought to be one of the key pioneers of modern art. Apart from this, his decorative Jugendstil style inspires an irresistible feeling which is inspired by the "fin-de-siecle" of 19th century Vienna: elitist, liberal-middle class, corrupt, and pleasantly-decorative. His work is highly recognizable because of his huge style combined with Byzantine-like decorative art and classical symbolism, made against the background of romanticism which was so characteristic of his time.

In Sezession's own words: "Art guides us to the ultimate realm, the only place where we're going to be capable of finding pure joy, pure contentment and pure love. A choir of angels from heaven. Joy given by divine glints. That kiss from the whole world!"
