The Southern Cross Tattoo

By Catherine Walter

Tattoos are gaining popularity as a way of expressing one's heart and mind. Before these were viewed as things that lowly people used to have but are now seen in people with some clout in life, especially those in the media and entertainment industry. Some, if not most tattoos are representations of some sentiment that a person may have for certain happenings in his or her life. The Southern Cross tattoo is one such tattoo that may or may not actually have some deeper meaning than just being something nice to look at.

Do they have a portfolio on display for you to look at, do they design and draw their own tattoos are they just using bog standard tattoo prints.Since the actual Southern Cross is almost always visible in this particular country, it is understandable that many people from this country associate themselves with this constellation. The Australian flag itself has some stars on it that may actually refer to this constellation or may be construed as a reference to it.

Many people prefer this method, as it is more unique than an out of the book design, and you have more confidence that you won't see another quite like it.The Southern Cross tattoo is actually a tattoo that consists of five stars which are place din a particular pattern in correspondence to a constellation that can be seen in the southern hemisphere, hence the name Southern cross. The Southern Cross tattoo design bears no resemblance to the conventional cross, those associated with religion and otherwise.

As long as you are getting the design you want, it makes no difference whether the tattoo artist can design it for you, if he doesn't design then you obviously need to get the design done somewhere else, and take it with you. This means that the five stars in this particular cross tattoo can have four points or more number of points to suit the owner of the tattoo. While the arrangement of the Southern Cross tattoo design should not be altered the appearance of the stars can be. Even the size of the entire tattoo can be reduced or maximized to accommodate the person's preferences. A small cross tattoo, if it can actually be called a cross design; can be seen on the wrist or the lower part of the inner elbow. Other places where a smaller version of the Southern Cross tattoo can be placed are the calf, beside the knee, on the small of the lower back, the nape and many other places.

The last point you want to pay attention to is the clarity and line work of your tattoo artist, this is important for how well your tattoo will age. Look around at other people in the street with tattoos; compare tattoos your friends already have.
