Ideas for Party Preparations

By Joshua Nikenya

No matter what you are celebrating, party preparations are compulsory for it to be a success. As much as you need to simplify the preparations, the party shouldn't be dull. This leaves you wondering what makes a good party. Apart from making in depth preparations, you must also keep in mind the following tips:

1. How many people will be attending the party?

2. How old are the guests? Is the party intended for all folks, or is it for adults or children only? Dependent on the age of the invited guests, the food and drinks you'll serve must be suitable for the guests.

3. At what time will the party start? Will it be an evening cocktail party or an afternoon barbeque party? The event should have a schedule which is flexible if the circumstances are not avoidable.

4. What meals will you serve? Will it be snacks or a formal dinner? Don't try new recipes-instead stick to what you know.

5. How will you want your guests to dress when coming to the party? Have you set a specific theme? Is it casual or formal? For instance, you will not want your guests to dress officially if it's a pool party.

6. Will there be an entertainment session at your party? Will you arrange entertainment for kids, or will you arrange music.

7. Are you able to prepare everything alone, or are you going to need to invite a catering staff and even hire chairs, tents and tables?

8. Have you prepared a budget for the party? If you have one, make sure you follow it as part of the party preparations.

9. Will you need the services of an event planner? If this is the case, you need to hire one.

10. Where will the party be held? Will it be at home or will you hire a venue for that day? Will the weather affect the party?

11. Will the party you want have room for decorations? If that's the case, will you make the decorations or will you buy them?

12. House preparations. Are there things that will need to be repaired or will you clean the house? In case it happens to be a pool party, ensure that the pool is in good working conditions. If there's no space for a dance party, you can clear the room where the party will be held.

You should not create an impression the party is over. Instead, carry the dishes with you on your way to the kitchen. This will also reduce the amount of work you'll do when they're gone.

In short, there are lots of party preparations ideas and they are somehow related regardless of the nature of your party. To help focus on the kind of party you would like to throw, prepare lists and then read through the points mentioned above. Parties are meant for you and the guests to have a great time. Making preparations is the only way to achieve this. Sufficient preparations will also save you the embarrassment.
