The Development Of Shellac Gel Nail Polish Is Causing Much Interest By Women

By Janna C. Deem

Shellac gel nail polish claims to provide a chip-free coating that will last for several weeks because it is cured with a system that gives it incredible flexibility and durability. It also produces that incredibly shiny finish that previously was only associated with gel nails. The new product can be applied like regular nail polish as it is lightweight and also thin, but there is a big difference.

The old fashioned fingernail polish was allowed to air dry after it was applied, which occurred through evaporation which caused it to dry and become hard. That process usually can take up to two or three hours after the application, which is a very long time to sit around waiting for the polish to cure.

Shellac gel nail polish is actually cured by an ultra violet light which accomplishes the feat in a few minutes time. That means that when your manicure is done your nails are completely dry with a strong and durable finish that can withstand accidental knocks that almost is like a plastic coating. So you don't have to fret about ruining your nails when you dig around in your purse looking for your car keys to drive home. It seems like this new shellac nail color is made of half nail polish and half gel that makes it a hybrid of sorts. This cannot be employed to create longer nails, but rather is for people who wish to maintain natural nails This is not suggested for individuals who have damaged nail beds including split or peeling nails, however, the new formula itself does not appear to cause any damage to your nail beds.

The ingredients used in these products are tested and studied to be sure they are safe as most people today are quite motivated by health and safety issues. Shellac offers a more friendly nail solution than actual gel nails since there is not sculpting or filing to the surface that is required as only thin coats of polish are all that is needed with a few minutes under the UV lamp to cure each coat.

This new method of manicure has one final point that must be stressed. Those of you who desire to do their own manicures at home should be advised that this was not intended as a do-it-yourself project. These products are best handled by professionals in the salon, who also have the proper equipment including the special UV lamps. The removal process involves a special wrapping procedure that allows the polish to come off easily as regular nail polish remover does not work on this.
