With the right ingredients and procedure homemade horse treats are easy to make. If one owns horses that they love to spoil frequently they do not have to struggle, to get its food because making the food from home can be a cheap and convenient alternative. The lover of horses can also proportion ingredients in such a way that, it is majorly made up of recipes that the horses need most at any particular time.

Natural ingredients are the main components of homemade treat and can be easily accessed either from within the home gardens or by purchasing them from surrounding food stores. The common ingredients include apples, sugar, oatmeal or sugar. It is important to keep in mind the fact that some ingredients can be toxic to the horses.

Intoxication in horses should be taken seriously because failure to do so can result to horses death or sickness and both consequences can be very costly to their lovers. Weight issues is another factor which should be considered when preparing home made food for horses. There are substances that can cause a faster increase in horse weight if not easily monitored for example ingredients that have high sugar level.

Some of the vegetables and foodstuffs that have been known to be toxic for horses include chestnuts, tomatoes and some others which selectively affect horses. This will require the owner to make observations from time to time to find out any other items or ingredients that intoxicate horses. These observations will help in choosing particular foods that will be helpful in developing dietary considerations when making homemade food for horses.

Horse cookies are the easiest of these types to make because it requires the person making them to simply combine carrots, molasses, sugar and oatmeal. The varieties are easily available from the homes but where they are not available they can easily be purchased from nearby food stores. It is always advisable to choose recipes that have lower sugar levels because they make a healthier meal for the horses.

Honey, carrots, molasses oats are some of the ingredients that are commonly found. The preparation of birthday cakes for the horses, for instance, will need one to make a selection among these ingredients or better still pick a little of each and combine them when preparing the treats. Some of the recipes can be prepared without baking while others can be baked.

If for instance you wish to make a birthday cake for your horse molasses, honey carrots and oats can make good ingredients. The person preparing can choose to have baked or unbaked versions depending on what they think the horses enjoy. The baked types can be enriched with bran cereal.

The equipment that are used to make homemade horse treats are basic cooking equipment that are commonly used in homes for example, muffin pans, baking sheets, spatula, mixing bowls, measuring cups or other forms of baking pans. There nature of recipes used is also a consideration during the selection of equipment to be used in this process. The person preparing needs adequate space to efficiently work on these treats.
