The Work Gloves That Keep Your Safe At Work

By Minnie Whitley

Accidents are inevitable. But there are ways in order to avoid them. There are many hazards that lie dormant and they are just waiting for any provocation. For instance, for construction contractors, there are a lot of potential dangers of falling debris while for medical staff, there are a lot of corrosive elements that may cause severe irritation on the skin.

Taking this into consideration, protective gears have been invented in order to secure the workers from potential hazards. One of them is the work gloves. This is a protective gear for the hands and are used by individuals whose occupation is in contact with dangerous and harmful substances such as corrosive chemicals and acids, rough and sharp materials, hot surfaces, and many more.

They are basically used in order to keep the chemicals, heat, and harmful materials from causing harm. But other than that, they are also used to protect the hands from chemical and acid corrosion especially for those people who have allergies. However, these protective garments cannot ensure you of your safety. But if you observe proper work behavior and choose the appropriate garment, you can definitely avoid the hazards.

Speaking of this, there are many different kinds. The first one is the disposable gloves. These are made from trivial plastic and their goal is to secure the hands from the mild irritants such as detergent soap. This type of muffs is recommended for those individuals who have skin allergy and are sensitive to cleaning agents. Aside from that, they are used in food handling as well.

Next is the fabric gloves. This kind of muffs are used to improve the grip in handling slippery materials. But other than that, they can insulate the hands from heat and cold. Then next is the leather gloves. These muffs are often used in construction. Their purpose is to shield the hand from being scratched by rough and sharp substances.

Still another kind is the rubber muffs. This one is used to protect the hands from harsh chemicals such as acids and petroleum based products. Contractors use them to avoid being dirtied by grease or harmed by other maintenance work. While doctors, chemists, and scientists are usually the ones who use them.

But other than those, doctors also use them frequently especially those that often deal with patients who have contagious diseases. That is because the blood of these patients contain pathogens that are able to invade into the system of another person by mere contact. That is why something as thick and impenetrable like rubber is used.

Aside from that, there is the metal mesh gloves. This one is a kind of muff used to secure hands from accidental scratches and cuts especially by those individuals who deal with cutting tools and other dangerous materials, and the last one is the aluminized muffs. This one is designed to insulate hands from intense heat and is used by people dealing with molten materials.

These are all of the common kinds of muffs that protect people from potential hazards in the job place. But they are not an assurance that you will not be in danger. There are even times, when using these could also be a hazard. So if you think, they will not help, do not wear them. Remember that the most important thing is to keep yourself safe.
