Your learning progress would all depend on your dedication.

These affordable products can give you a lot of information that would allow you to start your personal guitar lessons. If you were born in the earlier decades, then you have the option to purchase an oldies songbook. If not, then modern songbooks are still available for you.

A guitarist can also serve as your mentor. By doing this, you would certainly be more comfortable with your "mentor". Since your instructor is your friend, then you would absolutely listen to his/her suggestions about what you are doing. There's no doubt that your friend would let you learn the minor and the major chords in no time. However, you also have to do your part in memorizing the placement of your fingers on the guitar if you desire to speed up your learning process.

No matter what method you want to incorporate for yourself, you have to remember one thing: learning how to play the guitar takes practice. And you would indeed get better with practice, you know. Just take an hour or two each day or every other day, in fact. This helps loosen up your fingers so that you can reach those hard chords.
