Golf Must-Knows

By Levvees Marphiey

Tiger Woods and golf are two words that are practically inseparable. Golf originated in 15th century Scotland with the earliest golf game documented on Musselburgh Links, East Lothian, Scotland as early as March 1672. The first written record of golf is James II's banning of the game in 1457, seeing golf as an unwelcome distraction to learning archery. The oldest surviving rules of golf were compiled in March 1744 for the Company of Gentlemen Golfers, later renamed The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, which was played at Leith, Scotland. The world's oldest golf tournament in existence, and golf's first major, is The Open Championship, which was first played on October 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club, in Ayrshire, Scotland.

So if you're thinking about getting into golf, you need to get yourself to a driving range and start familiarizing yourself with the game. However, if you want to get the best training, you must hire a professional. This will cost you money but will be the best investment you'll ever make.

The most important thing to understand are the golf guidelines. You can have a list of the official regulations in the Internet, and even print it for your convenience. Once you become familiar with the rules, you can be sure that you'll be able to elevate your game. To even make your game better, check out the advises that follow.

Top of the list is that you should have the correct technique on how to align the clubface. Alignment of the clubface that is not proper is what most first time golfers fail at. The proper way to align your shots is to always begin by first assessing your target from behind the ball. This position can give you a clearer view and you'll already lead the ball to the place you want it to go.

Second tip is that you must know how to pick the perfect club. Having the perfect club on hand will make you feel confident that you'll make the right swing.

Last on the list is a good grip. This basically translates to a strong grip. You'll have this solid grip if you hold the club with your gloved hand and emphasize the handle's placement in the fingers between the first knuckle and the palm. The ungloved hand is then positioned wrapping the handle. After that position, you must make sure that both the thumb and index fingers of your hands form two Vs that point to the right side of the chest or right shoulder.

Since you already have adequate knowledge regarding golf, you can now start playing like Tiger Woods.
