What is Stem Cell Breast Augmentation?

By Barbara Thomas

Even of the economic slow down, 2010 was even now incredibly a banner year for breast augmentation surgeries in women. Breast implants have not slowed in their popularity, as more and additional women select the surgery to perfect their cleavage and enhance their bosoms.

As with any other incredibly profitable segment of business, the plastic surgery industry has been tough at work figuring out new and much better ways to give women larger, much more shapely breasts.

There are new kinds of breast implants becoming worked on constantly, and there's even a newer, incredibly novel procedure to having larger breasts.

This one involves utilizing your body's very own cells to generate new breast tissue - your own. It's named stem cell breast augmentation, and it's brand new to market, so it is only available on a limited basis so far in Britain, and is still being reviewed for approval here inside the US.

In the US, a similar program named fat transfer is also performed, but it does not involve the utilization of stem cells. Fat transfer is merely taking the fat cells from one area in the body and transplanting them into the breast, there is no growth of new fatty tissue like there would be with stem cell breast augmentation.

Unlike the controversy that surrounds other forms of stem cell therapies, this sort of usage just isn't controversial since it does not use stem cells from an embryo. Instead, stem cells which are extracted from fat over a patient's entire body are employed to assist cultivate new fat inside the breast area.

Hence, the patient ideally starts to grow their personal breast tissue from the new transplanted fat and stem cells, at the new site inside the breasts. Always times the fat is taken from areas where the patient wish to give up some fat anyways. The buttocks, thighs, and belly could be areas that fat is also extracted.

The newly cultured fat and stem cells are then transplanted into areas on the breast which the patient would like to see fuller. Because these types of cells are particular in that they are able to change into any other sort of cell, the thought is that they will generate much more breast tissue on their own.

The patient's personal blood is also transplanted towards the area, so that the fat can begin to grown and multiply from the one localized area. Ideally, if the method works, the fat only grows towards the desired size, as well as the breasts are then augmented by the patient's very own fat cells, to their desired size and shape.

Long term studies have not been performed on this stem cell breast augmentation procedure, because it's as well new a concept to test out that way. So there is no method to tell for specific regardless of whether the breast augmentation resulting during the technique would be truly permanent.

Theoretically, it would be a permanent procedure, but there's usually risk of weight loss and breast reduction. There also might be a risk on the new fatty tissue migrating to either an additional area from the breast or to other areas from the body.

While the simpler method of fat transfer breast augmentation costs within the same as regular breast implants do, the addition from the stem cell technology would add roughly $5,000 for the cost. So you'd probably be looking at a tab of around $10,000 to obtain the stem cell version of breast augmentation done from begin to finish.
