Institutions that Offer Performing Arts Summer Programs

By Sandy Fe

It's amazing to know that many people today have great love for singing, acting and dancing. These people take advantage of their talents through theatrical presentations. But in order to be given the opportunity to show their talents on stage, it's highly recommended for these talented people to undergo performing arts lessons. Those studying in home schools might want to consider matriculating in performing arts schools that offer summer programs.

Performing arts summer programs may range in scopes. The number of programs depends on the policy of the school that provides the kind of summer programs. When referring to performing arts summer programs, they are normally associated with performing arts summer camps. Nevertheless, some institutions that offer curricula in performing arts have also included performing arts summer programs. They are geared to students that may have come from the same institution or from other schools.

There are various schools in America and from other parts of the world offering performing arts summer programs. Idyllwild Arts, Oklahoma City University and Flint Institute of Music are among the institutions in America that offer the kind of programs during summer months.

Idyllwild Arts Academy is a boarding school in the West Coast of America. Founded in 1986, the academy has college preparatory programs where students in 9-12 grades are trained in various academic programs including performing arts.

For more than 5 decades, Idyllwild Academy has already been offering summer programs where the campus is situated at San Jacinto Mountains in California. Children, teen and adults can be offered with different performing arts programs.

Oklahoma City University Performing Arts Summer Programs include pre-college programs for talented students who are vocalists and/or instrumentalists. The programs offered by one of the recognized institutions in Oklahoma have standards set by the OCU. Its notable alumni include Kelli O'Hara, Ron Raines, Kristin Chenoweth, Leona Mitchell, Edgar Cruz and Mason Williams.

The students studying the programs offered by the OCU are accommodated in the Bass Music Center.

Finally, the Flint Institute of Music also has performing arts summer programs where you can enroll in the Flint School of Performing Arts Summer Programs. Both neophytes and elites can take music and dance classes at the Flint Cultural Center.

Should you or your child wish to matriculate in these institutions, you can simply visit their websites to know the requirements. This also applies to other performing arts schools.
