If you've always fancied the idea of being interrogated by secret agents, hassled by corrupt cops or chased by hordes of Zombies, Bristol's interactive gaming festival Igfest may be just what you've been looking for.
Now entering its fifth year, Igfest is a celebration of the very latest in theatrical street gaming, with this year seeing three games taking centre stage hosting hundreds of eager participants at locations around the city centre.
Three games were on show at this year's festival, with newcomers 'Incitement' from Splash & Ripple and 'Cargo Remix' joining the ever popular '2.8 hours later' from veteran interactive gaming outfit Slingshot
The Zombie action comes thick and fast in 2.8 hours later, where the aim of the game is to avoid being eaten by zombies whilst trying to make your way across the city to the safety of the survivors base by finding and deciphering hidden clues.
If on the other hand, the idea of bartering with crooked cops and using fake ID to avoid detection and find your way to the boat and freedom gets your pulse racing, then Cargo Remix is the game for you.
Incitement is set in a dystopian future where books are burned and the all powerful authority knows and watches over everything. Contestants must decipher clues to find their opponents bases and bring down the authority whilst avoiding the Agents who will stop at nothing to see their oppressive system upheld.
The Saturday saw the culmination of the festival, and saw Bristol city centre transformed with Cargo Remix and Incitement taking place around the city alongside 2.8 hours later, which had been running since the Wednesday.
The popularity of theatrical street gaming is growing year on year as this exciting form of interactive entertainment is discovered by more and more people, with Bristol once again being at the centre of this artistic and cultural revolution. So if you want to experience this new and exciting medium get involved today and you may just find yourself hooked.
