Tricks To Good Moonbow Photography

By Bernice Terry

The moonbow or the moon rainbow is definitely one of the most beautiful sights to the human eye and is also a very great thing for photographers to grab on camera. Of course if one would want to capture a nice picture of a moon rainbow, there are some things that he must take of. So for those who are into moonbow photography, here are some tips.

Since the appearance of a moon rainbow is very rare, one has to research as to when it will appear. He must always be on alert as to the actions and movements of the moon because this will be the indication. When the moon is very bright, full, and near to the earth, then that is a sign that a lunar bow will pop out.

Now if one would want to shoot a good picture of the lunar bow, then he would have to get a really good angle. Now in order to get a good angle, one must stand on the top of a waterfall or a cliff so that he will be in an elevated position. Also, he must always follow the direction of the moon with his camera so that he will capture the bow when it comes out right away.

After doing some preparations on how to get the lunar bow, then the next thing to do would be to gather all of the equipment. Now one thing that the photographer should never do would be to bring out the flash. The flash may be useful in making the picture brighter but it will also destroy the light of the moonbow and will not show in the picture.

Now as for the equipment, obviously one will be needing to bring his camera. One other thing that he must never forget to bring would be his tripod because he will be waiting a very long time for the bow to appear. He will need to keep the camera still because if the camera is shaky, then he will not be able to capture the lunar bow nicely.

Now one thing that the photographer must definitely watch out for would definitely be the fog and the mist since he will be atop a rock or somewhere near a waterfall. Because of the mist, the lens of the camera might become blurred which will affect the picture. So always bring something that will block off the mist.

One more recommended thing to do but is optional would be to bring a very wide angle lens. No one knows where the moon rainbow will pop out and even if one points his camera in a specific direction, this does not mean that the lunar bow will pop up there. That is why he must have a wide lens so he can capture a big portion of the scenery.

So for those who would want to do well in their moonbow photography endeavors, then take a look at these tips and tricks. It is very important to know the location and the time where in the lunar bow will come out. Another thing to take note of would be the details because it is the details that give the picture its life.
