New Orleans Favorite Museums

New Orleans is an exciting and diversified town that has lots to offer travelers. Some of the high spots include the consequential French Quarter, busy Bourbon Street and naturally the succulent standard cuisine. Courtesy of a mixing pot of cultures the city boasts 1 or 2 entrancing museums to help visitors better understand the local history, art and heritage. Here are merely a few of the top museums in New Orleans

Louisiana Children's Museum

While much of New Orleans appeals basically to adults there's still lots to enlighten and entertain younger kids as well. The Louisiana Children's Museum is probably one of the best New Orleans museums for families and it handily found in the Central Business District just a quick walk from the French Quarter. Exhibits range all the way from subjects like the body and basic machinery to local subjects like the history of New Orleans or understanding how a port operates in coastal cities. Trip to familiarize children with the thrill of New Orleans and to learn a few things at the same time.

Historic New Orleans Collection

Those having an interest in the history of New Orleans should look no further than the Historic New Orleans Collection. This is an engaging way to more clearly comprehend the way in which the city was shaped into what it is today. Exhibits cover the history of New Orleans, traditional furniture, clothing and even foods that were eaten centuries gone in the town. Many visitors especially enjoy the scale models of the French Quarter visible over a period of time. This allows for a unique way to compare the form and size of the town today and even 100 years back.

Audubon Nature Institute

This aquarium, museum and science center in the French Quarter is a wonderful spots for both adults and children to learn more about the natural wildlife in the area. Though a lot of the tourism in New Orleans is founded on history, language, cuisine and culture the science aspect is also fit and healthy thanks to the Audubon Nature Institute. A large IMAX theater permits visitors to enjoy films on tutorial and entertaining subjects exploring the character of New Orleans and Louisiana in total.

Mardi Gras World

There may be no argument that Mardi Gras is the most well liked and well known event in New Orleans. To get a better idea of what these celebrations entail and how they came about consider a visit to Mardi Gras World, one of the top New Orleans museums. Take a brief look at the masses of parade floats employed in the numerous Mardi Gras parades every year and even take a tour of how they are made. Both adults and children will appreciate this destination.

Contemporary Arts Center

In the guts of the Central Business District is one of the top museums in New Orleans for art. The Contemporary Arts Center boasts diverse exhibits from local artists as well as artists from all over the world who have caught poignant scenes on the roads of New Orleans.
