A Las Vegas Vacation Has Something Fun For Everyone

By Adriana Noton

Most people assume the typical Las Vegas vacation includes nothing but gambling and drinking. The city certainly lives up to its famous nickname, but Sin City has so much more to offer than slot machines and cocktails.

The major casinos manage to pack everything vacationers could possibly want under a single roof. For those who are content to stay put, transportation will not even be necessary. Dining options include grand buffets, 24-hour cafes, fast food stands and fine dining establishments. Gamblers will find all the usual table games, thousands of slot machines and often a poker room.

Visitors who want to get out and explore have many options for touring the city and its surroundings. Rental car companies can be found at the airport, at many large resorts and throughout the city. For something special, visit one of the specialty shops leasing high end luxury vehicles. Complimentary valet parking is available at every resort but there may be a line to retrieve the vehicle on the busiest days. It is also possible to leave the driving to the professionals and take a bus, taxi or limousine. Many of the buses have an upper deck that offers riders scenic views of the Strip and downtown areas.

For a truly unique view of the Strip, there are businesses that offer helicopter rides. Flight times and durations vary but flights are available during the day and after dark.

Thrillseekers can find a number of activities to get excited about. There are places to ride roller coasters, drive race cars and skydive indoors. The truly brave can ride a zipline downtown underneath a canopy of lights. Nearby national parks have spectacular scenery and interesting red rock formations to explore.

Summer vacations can include a day at any of the numerous pools. Rules vary from place to place. Some allow hotel guests only while others are open to the public for a fee. Most are family friendly but there are a few that allow adults only. Many have special features like waterfalls, water slides and wave pools. Weekend parties catering to the college and young adult crowd offer live entertainment, bikini contests and an overall festive atmosphere.

There are even great ways to relax during a Vegas vacation. Visitors can check into a day spa and get treated to a soothing massage or facial. Full service beauty salons can give anyone a complete makeover for a big night out.

Some people prefer to avoid the crowds but still get the Las Vegas experience. One of the many smaller casinos located off the Strip may be more attractive. These casinos typically cater to locals with lower food prices, cheap drinks, lower gambling limits and many different types of slot machines.
