Figure Out Which Of The Connecticut Radio Stations To Tune In To

By Elise Clayton

Turn the dial to get to the frequency you want. In no time, you will hear sounds coming out of the speakers. When it reaches your ears, you could always turn the dial again if you do not really like what you are hearing. There are different radio stations Connecticut has for its listeners.

Whether you are streaming it, or you are hardwired to your tuner, you always have formats to choose from. You, as the listener, have full control on which one to choose and for how long you would listen to it. To make sure that listeners find no reason to change the dial, they make sure that the format and target audience match. Here are just some of the formats heard on the airwaves.

There is the oldies programming. A more correct way to call this format is golden hits. They can go as far back as the 50's and have more current tunes from the 90's. Their selection consists of tunes that are regarded as gold in the music industry.

There is the personality format. Music can still be heard over this but not as much as other music-intensive frequencies. Entertainment is achieved by letting certain types of personalities be the host, co-host or the guest for their shows. Current events may be parodied and commented on.

You may have the rock format. This is also one format that has become even more diverse. With the advent of mixed and sub genres of rock, the format tends to fall within the different stylistic ranges.

You could go with smooth jazz. This is a format that is primarily for passive listening. There is no need to really tune in to the songs being played. It is mostly for ambient music. Something that can soothe and relax the listeners to achieve a certain atmosphere.

There is the standards format. This may play songs that date back 60 years. If it is not rock, it could be added to the playlist. Even current versions of an older standard hit can be added to the programming.

You may go with urban. This is mostly targeted for younger adults and teenagers. This may play hip-hop, rap and rhythm and blues. If they seek to appeal to adults, as well, they include soul or r and b hits dating back 20 years or even longer.

Those are only a couple of the formats that can be heard from the various radio stations Connecticut. With such a diverse selection, you may end up having one choice for every time your mood changes. But, to stick to just one, make sure you understand your personality and your tastes to keep your dial on one frequency.
