Visiting St Ives Cornwall

By Dave Smith

Located on the southern end of Cornwall, on the coast, is the beautiful seaside village of St Ives Cornwall. The town holds festivals each year and is a popular resort town. It also has a branch of the Tate museum and a sculpture garden.

There are a few major festivals held there every year, except one which celebrates the Knill monument, and is held once every five years. Another festival is the St. Ives feast, celebrating the founding of St. Ives. There is also a MayDay, which is a popular Cornish tradition that celebrates spring.

Perhaps the most popular festival is the September Festival, one of the longest running arts festivals in the United Kingdom. It goes on for fifteen days, and features a wide range of arts from books, music, poetry, and film.

The festival has free music in pubs and the local shops open their galleries to the public to display their art making processes. There is also a five hundred seat theater that holds some of the bigger open concerts. Each year the festival attracts tons of people from all over the globe.

You can get to St. Ives from anywhere in the world. There is a train system, a bus service, and flights that go in to Newquay, and Plymouth. It is accessible from anywhere in England and has lovely beaches and fishing villages to visit. The town is a short distance from many attractions such as Land's End and has some scenic vistas.

St. Ives is also near the world's biggest greenhouse. The greenhouse contains two conservatories, one containing a rainforest and the other with flowers and vegetation from Africa and the Mediterranean. Pottery exhibits, tours, and art galleries are some of the few things to do in St Ives Cornwall.
