Guide To Putting Together Websites For Orange County Salons

By Rena Hudson

A salon is often a busy place of business. In fact, one hairstylist may tend to several customers at one time. At orange county salons that do not have front desk clerks, answering customer calls may be a bit of a challenge. To avoid the loss of potential business, salons may find it necessary to invest in building official websites.

Provide an overview of the salon on the homepage. The overview should tell the reader a little about the salon such as its location, notable services, its history and how long the salon has been in business. Include the hours of operation as well. Place one or more photos on this page to give readers an idea of the salon environment. Links to social media networks should also be placed on this page.

One page should provide a menu of services the beauty shop offers. Naturally, visitors to the site want to know if the shop offers the service that they want. List the services that the beauty shop offers along with some key information about the service, with the exception being price. Key information could include how long the service takes to be done or if the salon does it in a way that is not typically done at other beauty shops in the county. Services like nails and waxing should be listed on a separate page.

Have a picture gallery. Pictures give insight into the services provided. Be sure that the photos posted are representative of the work that is done by hairstylists on staff. Pictures also give visitors some styling examples to pick from should they not already have a style in mind.

Introduce members of the staff to readers. Staff profiles can include things like the services individual stylists specialize in and how long they have been employed at the hair salon. Ask each stylist for his or her permission before placing their photos and information on the website.

In an effort to avoid fielding calls about employment, place such information on the salon website. List open positions along with their requirements. If possible include a secure online application. If that is not possible, provide a printable one.

Designate a page to answer frequently asked questions. Give readers the answers to questions such as pricing, guarantees of service and the salon cancellation policy. Though some answers can be found elsewhere on the site, answer them on this page for quick reference. Update this page as warranted.

Have one page that lists contact information. Contact information includes the street address, phone number and email address. Consider providing a map or directions to the hair salon from various points in the county. Even though they were included on the homepage, include links to social media accounts on this page.

There are several options available for orange county salons that want to build websites. Of course, some options are contingent on the amount of money and skills the salons possess. A skilled staff member can build a decent website using a free or low-cost service. A salon that does not want to build a site in house has the option of hiring a professional web designer to build their site.
