A Linesman Tension Load Tool

By Bonnie Contreras

People who work with power cables need to know their tools will not let them down. The linesman tension load tool is one of the tools these people rely on. Like all their other tools these workers need to be sure they are light, easy to carry but still tough and reliable.

The linesmen are highly qualified electricians as well as people who do not mind heights and spend most of their lives suspended in the air. Hanging from a pole or climbing a pylon they have to have precision in what they do and climbing is another skill required by the job. For this specialized work they have to have faith in their equipment and know that every item will perform as required at all times.

Once a worker has climbed up a metal framework or is suspended from a pole he needs access to his equipment easily and quickly. They carry everything they need in belt pouches, or hanging from their belt and so the items need to be small, light and tough. Working in these conditions the workers can not afford faulty or weak items.

Working on repair and maintenance is usually pretty straight forward but in these cases the weather is a big factor and can make the job very dangerous. Travelling around to damaged cable sites can often mean that they are working in dreadful conditions. This is due to the fact that weaknesses and faults only come to light once the weather turns bad.

There are not that many people who would enjoy climbing around in freezing temperatures or in high winds but these people make that their work. They take it all in their stride and never let us down when we need them most. They just consider it is what they do and get on with it.

They can travel miles in a day to get from one site of damage or failure to another, this means that this can be a very lonely life choice. Working in remote areas across and over rough terrain and mountains, they see very little of their family and friends. Thanks to them we can sit in comfort and warmth with our loved ones in winter.

So when the weather brings down a power line and a whole town or village is thrown into darkness, it is at these times that people like these come to our rescue. The lines break or are ripped from their ties which can leave them hanging over rivers or maybe a busy road. Sometimes snow or excess rain can weaken the capability of the cables and cause power faults. These workers are then at their busiest fixing the problems and keeping the country running smoothly.

These are the times when a linesman tension load tool and the other equipment is needed and it has to have proved itself effective. Using this to bridge the fault while the cable is replaced or parts repaired makes it possible to do the job smoothly. So this is when the equipment really has to be reliable, strong and tough.
