Is One Personal Computer Truly Adequate?

By Dana C. Xavier

One of the greatest things about living in the modern age is that computers are so incredibly fast and powerful. Not only that, but they have become amazingly cheap. Going out shopping for a computer is a really fun experience. One question you may have is that should you get one, two, or even more? In this article, we'll discuss those nagging questions once and for all.

Most people have a decent desktop. And with a decent desktop, you can do pretty much anything. With a processor that is fast enough, and enough memory, you can do plenty of things. Watching videos, downloading music and movies, and many other tasks are easy to do with your standard desktop computer.

If you happen to need to bring your computer with you, having only a desktop is going to present a problem. It's going to be difficult to stuff that thing into your shoulder bag and take it on an airplane, for example. That's exactly why people buy laptops to go along with their desktops. You can transfer data from one to the other, and everything is working fine.

But should you stop there? The next computer people usually buy is an additional desktop for their home. For some people, this is a dedicated computer for gaming. For others, this computer is used for creating large video files.

Many people also have two laptops for similar reasons. One is strictly for work, and only has work data and information. Another laptop is for personal use that they can use whenever they are out and about. This keeps everything separate, and keeps any embarrassing things from happening.

Of course, the sky's the limit with how many computers you should have. Only a short while ago, having more than on TV in your home was considered absurd. Now people have several. It's the same thing with computers. Pretty soon people will have computers in every room of the house.

To be sure, computers are quickly becoming something that can help us in everyday life. And the more computers we have, the easier it will be to live our lives to the fullest.
