Kosmoratik Combines Beautiful Instruments With A Unique Sound

By Casandra Newton

If a person is seeking a unique mellow sound, they need look no further than Kosmoratik. Where some groups depend on an all ready proven formula this band uses principles but creates its own take on what they are playing. They are a Norway based band but they are ready to take on the world.

Some groups play music but this group is more than that. They actually are considered a musical project. Like other bands, they do play live and record as well.

This is a band that is made up of three varied members. Eivind Johansen is the lead singer. He also writes poetry inspired lyrics for the band to sing. He is no stranger to piano or acoustic guitar as he plays them both occasionally. His musical range spans from folk music to electric music and he has much to contribute in all these areas.

The keyboard player is Odd Gunnar Froysland. He worked on the acoustic Kate Bush project as the guitar player and he has played with many bands. With this band, he is the arranger and composer along with his keyboard playing.

Lise Lotte Agedal is the third member of the group. She is known to be a talented and versatile singer who embraces everything from standby jazz to alternative rock. On their new album Gravitation she plays keyboards and singing.

Interestingly this band has borrowed from its love of 60's and 70's music and yet they have made their own sound. They do not consider themselves to be a retro band. They may use elements but their music is their own.

The name Kosmoratik was morphed from the word cosmorama. Cosmorama is an exhibition technique. It was popular in the 19th century. Moreover, it is an optical device that magnified pictures. These pictures were of exotic landscapes and foreign lands. This word can also mean being present in one's own life.

For a fresh, innovative and creative beat one need to look no further than this group. They have free samples of their music on line, so it is easy for people to judge for themselves. This is a band that creates music which seeps into one's soul.

A person only has to search on line to find fan pages, the band's page and more. It is easy to be a fan these days because no matter where a person lives because of the world wide web. This way a person does not have to miss a concert and can be the first to hear a new tune.

Symphonic pop is another name for what these three musicians create. But it isn't only that. It also has measures of progressive rock. The singing, lyrics and music all blend together to produce an out of this world sound. The musical arrangement is the frosting on their sound cake.

One may worry about a contradiction in styles with Kosmoratik but they make it work. It is like two differing countries brought together by sound. It is certainly worth listening to this fresh and edgy group.
