How The Color Run 5K Is Unique From Other Races

By Sarah X. Felix

Every year, there are 25 different cities throughout the United States that host a Color Run 5K event. At the end of the race, the runners will be a lot more colorful and happier because this is not a run-of-the-mill 5K. Even those who finish last are sure to end the race with smiles on their faces. Members of the race will get to have their plain white t-shirts colored for free, and they will also receive a free race t-shirt upon completion. A portion of the proceeds collected from the race will be contributed to a local charity.

At the start of the race, participants will wear plain and boring white t-shirts. The Color Bomb Squad will then go on to bombard the racers with colors every five minutes after the start of the race. Those plain white tees will quickly become beautiful multicolored masterpieces. The colors that are ordinarily tossed are purple, pink, blue, yellow, and green, and each leg of the race has its own color. The material that is being thrown that the runners is just corn starch, so it is completely safe.

Free t-shirts are given to runners and volunteers who participated in the colorful celebration. Sponsors of the function will show their support and gratitude by providing food and great music. None of this can take place before the grand finale where all finishers get to throw handfuls of color and happiness at each other.

The Color Run 5K donates a portion of the money collected from the registration fees to a local charity. With more than 25 cities taking part in the Color Run 5K, that is more than 25 different charities that are being supported. Deaf Community Services of San Diego is the title of the charity that the Color Run San Diego donates its proceeds to. Enriching the lives of the community of deaf and hard of hearing people in San Diego through services, education, and advocacy is the mission of this charity.

People who want to have a great time, see colors, and get some exercise would like the Color Run 5K. Individuals will feel better for participating, and they will also be able to say that they helped give anything back to the people in their community. You will meet great men and women and have a wonderful time either in San Diego or any of the other host cities in the US.
