Party Decorations: Ideas on How to Decorate a Venue for Your Party

By Tom Nikenya

Ideas for party decorations are infinite because there are many differing kinds of parties you can throw. Your budget and the type of party that you are throwing are the determinants of the amount and sort of decorations you will have. If it's a themed party, the decorations that you have put in place will bring a partying mood. In the case of themed parties, here are some of the decoration ideas:

Independence Day Party- At such parties, you can decorate the venue using streamers and balloons that have got the colours white, red and blue (colours of the flag). You can also use patriotic ribbons, hang stars and flags. When it is time to eat, serve the meals on patriotic cups, plates and napkins. The table should be decorated with star confetti and the chairs tied by patriotic ribbons.

Sport themed party-If the reason why you are throwing a party is to celebrate your team's victory, the best way to decorate the party room is by having colors of your club or team all over the room. You might also purchase a tablecloth with the logo of your team, or you can name your dishes after the players of your team. An alternative way to decorate it is by setting up the table to make it look like a pitch or court of the game. You can pin cutout clubs or racquets on the wall if you are celebrating a golf or tennis victory.

Valentine's Day party-For this kind of party, you need to use hearts and flowers to make the decorations. The party decorations will set the mood better if you use pink and red colours since it is a day for boyfriends and girlfriends. Spice up the venue with some candles. The cake should be heart-shaped and the balloons should also take the same shape. Every female guest should be greeted with a red rose and then scatter miniature heart candy on the floor or the table.

50s themed party- Hire a juke box for the event. Set the table with a white and red checked table cloth. Play Elvis movies and put up posters of the 50's celebrities. On the walls you can hang music notes that you have from black cardboard.

Pool Party- In this case, you may have a tropical theme to make the decorations. On the walls you can pin cutouts of palms while you present your guests with leis. Placing coconut trees on the table is another way of decorating the party. In the drinks, you should immerse paper umbrellas.

Children's parties- If the kid hasn't selected a theme, you can try matching paper plates and napkins apart from using balloons. However, if the kid has selected a theme, you must follow it when making the decorations. If it is a pirate themed party, ship and swords decorations must be present.

In short, party decorations are made according to the kind of party you are throwing. You should be creative when making the decorations. Therefore, the resources around you should be fully utilised.
