My family was going to take a long needed vacation to a small cabin on a lake in Northern Idaho and for entertainment during the long TV-less nights, we decided to pick up some cheap jigsaw puzzles. My wife and I had often enjoyed working puzzles together ever since we had begun dating, and we had fostered a love of puzzles in our children as well, so they were happy about the idea to get some new puzzles to take to the lake.
My first thought was just to rush down to the nearest toy store and pick up what they had on clearance, but when I got there, I found that they only had one kind of puzzle on clearance and that all the other puzzles were way too pricey. I was a little frustrated, but I figured we would just have to use the same old puzzles and games from previous trips to the lake.
When I got there, I told my wife what had happened, but oddly, she didn't seem troubled at all as she just nodded and left the room. I felt like I had given it my best shot, so I decided to center my attention on getting the boat ready and making certain in was all in good repair and ready for a good ride on the water. At one point during our preparations, my wife came into the room with a mysterious smile on her face, but would not tell me what she had been up to.
The next week passed quickly and we were all eager about our imminent trip to our picturesque cabin on the lake. One day that week, the doorbell rang and I was very puzzled to find a package sitting on my front doorstep. I took it to my wife, who cheerfully informed me that she had found some cheap jigsaw puzzles online and had ordered them in order to surprise me and the kids.
We waited until we were in the cabin and were discussing how to spend the evening before we unveiled the new puzzles to the kids, who were delighted by them. They were particularly amused by the horse puzzles my wife had selected as well as the lion puzzles she had ordered. She also ordered some 3D jigsaw puzzles which were a new thing for us, and we had a blast working together to try and figure it out, and most importantly, we just loved spending time together as a family.
