A lot of effort is needed for one to gain skills and expertise as a Disk Jockey.

Your skills in playing the mixer should be worked on properly. If you desire to know the way to control the volume, tempo, filters, pitch and crossfader, you need to know how to work with the mixer.

The crossfader is as equally important as the mixer and should be given similar attention if you desire to become a leading Disk Jockey. If you were to ask many DJs, they will tell you the crossfader is what the use the most to come up with awesome music. It is the tool they use to learn about BMP of any track they wish to work with.

Filters are tools found on the system and can be used to separate distinct signals from a track. With this tool, one can distinguish between signals and vocals or harmonies of different tracks with relative ease. Filters give a Disk Jockey some easy time in terms of determining the BMP of particular tracks.

After learning how to use this equipment, the next step is to try to mix a music track. While this is going on, the crossfader should be kept strictly at 100% on the first deck. As this is happening, play the deck two and listen to the track using a piece of headphones rather than on the main speakers.

The last step of using a DJ system, involves learning all the details necessary for this venture. The first basic mix you produce, will call on you to slide the crossfader.
